In December 2021, former President Uhuru Kenyatta officially chartered Nakuru to City status. Having been formally unveiled as a city, the doors to unprecedented growth and development were opened.  Following this announcement, former President Uhuru Kenyatta later announced that Kenya had secured the rights to host the elite World Rally Championship (WRC)<\/strong><\/a> motorsport event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nakuru is just 2 hours northwest of the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi. Additionally, Nakuru neighbors seven other counties which are Kericho, Narok, Baringo, Laikipia, Bomet, Nyandarua, and Kajiado. This prime position ensures Nakuru remains at the heart of key events and operations in Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nakuru City is home to three significant military barracks: Lanet Barracks, Gilgil Barracks, and Kenyatta Barracks, also known as Westcom or Western Command. Lanet Barracks, located just outside Nakuru town, is a notable training ground for Kenya’s military personnel. Gilgil Barracks, situated between Nakuru and Naivasha, is renowned for its strategic role and houses various military units.
